We understand that companies don’t want random people copying information from their websites. Of course, the purpose of a corporate website is to get the information out to customers. You’re also stopping your resellers from getting the information and fans from posting it on social media. But, that’s not our main concern.
The unfortunate part of this policy is that overzealous web developers place this copy protection on the Press Center. This means that if the press wants to cover you, they have to retype anything they want to quote. None of us are going to do that.
Also be aware that spammers and spiders who want your information are likely going to be able to get it by going around your copy protection. Most copy protection methods are fairly basic to break. But congratulations, you did irritate every editor and journalist who is trying to provide you complimentary coverage.
Consider that we only see this in about 1 out of every thousand websites. We’ll be covering the other 999 companies who actual want to make it easy for us to provide them with coverage.
